(i) The most expensive teas in China cost more than gold by weight! In Year 2002, a wealthy man indulged in 20g of China’s famous Oolong tea – Da Hong Pao tea for the eye-watering sum of US$28,000 (SGD $39,000).

(ii) The Ritz Carlton of Hong Kong has the world’s most expensive High Tea meal, at a price of HKD$8,888 (SGD $1,600) per couple.

(iii) In 2005, a British jeweller made the world’s most expensive tea bag to celebrate the 75th birthday of PG Tips. The bag was studded with 280 diamonds and worth GBP £7,500 per tea bag (SGD $13,130).
